How to write a case study without inventing results

22 July 2026·6 min read

A case study can be persuasive without a dramatic percentage in the headline. Specific context and clear reasoning are evidence too—as long as the claims remain honest.

01

Separate fact from interpretation

  • The original situation and constraints
  • What the client asked for
  • What your team changed
  • Why important decisions were made
  • Verified outcomes or clearly labelled observations
02

Show the work in context

A polished screenshot alone does not explain whether the solution was appropriate. Describe the audience, operational requirements and trade-offs that shaped it.

03

Use numbers responsibly

Name the source, period and definition behind any figure. If comparable data is unavailable, explain the intended outcome and what would be measured next rather than presenting an estimate as a result.
